Intercessory Prayer
I sought for a man . . . that should . . . stand in the gap before me for the land.” Ezekiel 22:30
We desperately need intercessors who will continually go before us and claim the victory as we minister to the lost.
As we look back over the past forty years, we cannot help but praise the Lord for the tremendous difference that the prayers of our faithful intercessors have made to our ministry. How much difference, we may never know, but something I read recently gave me a new insight into the power of such prayers.
When D.L. Moody visited England in 1872 he agreed to preach in a church in London. The Sunday morning turned out to be a disastrous experience and he confessed afterward that he had never had such a hard time preaching in all his life. There seemed no life at all in the service and he was so sorry that he had committed himself to take the evening service too.
To his utter amazement, the evening service was packed and there was a vital spiritual atmosphere. He gave an invitation and 500 people responded and a major revival started in that church that night.
Moody was later to discover the reason for the dramatic change. A woman, who had attended the morning service had returned home and told her sister, who was an invalid, about the meeting. Her sister was amazed and said that she had heard he was coming to England and had been praying that God would send him to their church. She said that if she had known he was there, she would have spent the whole time he was preaching in prayer for him. She then told her sister to go out of the room, lock the door and not to send any food in to her. “I am going to spend the whole afternoon and evening in prayer”, she said.
Here we see a vital example of the way in which God works in answer to the prayers of intercessors. We desperately need your intercession for Ikoma Mountain. We read in the Bible (Joshua 14:12) that Caleb said to the Lord, “give me this mountain” and God gave it to him. We desperately need intercessors who will prevail with the Lord to give us Mount Ikoma, which is at the present time the seat of idolatry, immorality and many heathen sects. It is on this mountain that the Lord has placed us and from which we are reaching out with the Gospel.
If the Lord shows you that He has called you to stand with us in intercession, do contact us and we will make sure to send special prayer requests to you as the needs arise. We desperately need faithful intercessors.
Remember that the Lord has said, “But as his part is who goes down to the battle, so shall his part be who stays by the supplies, they shall share alike.” (I Sam. 30:24) Both are so essential for the fulfilling of His commandment to seek and save the lost.
Thank you for your faithful prayers,
