MAINTENANCE PROJECT

We are in the process of renovating two, 4-story buildings (2x4 construction) at the JM headquarters that were built about 30 years ago and are now experiencing quite a bit of deterioration. These buildings will last for generations if maintained properly, but cannot be neglected.

SIDING:  We have painted the wooden siding repeatedly over the years, but it is cracking/rotting in various places. Much of the wooden siding will need to be replaced with a more durable and weather-resistant siding.

ROOFING:  We periodically repair the shingles on the roof, but it still leaks as typhoons easily strip off the aging shingles. The asphalt shingles are of the thin variety that are rated to last about 30 years. New shingles will have to be laid to secure the roofing for the future.

PAINTING:  Japanese seasonal weather can be extreme, and any exposed wood or metal deteriorates quickly. All surfaces of both buildings, any surrounding stairwells, and decking will be painted with multiple coats of paint.

Much of the work on the first building has been completed, but due to the costs and logistics of securing workers it will take the rest of 2023 to complete this project. We are making these plans known with the hope that the Lord would lead some volunteers to come and help us with this project.

We are planning for the bulk of the work to take place during the Spring (March - May) and Fall (Sept - Nov) of 2023 as we host volunteers and purchase the needed materials.

Please let us know if you feel led to join us in this endeavor and email us directly at: recruitment@japanmission.org

We appreciate everyone’s prayers and support as we do our utmost to be good stewards of the headquarters the Lord has blessed us with over the years.

This maintenance will bring additional financial costs this year, but is essential for the continuation of missions work here in Japan.  If you also may feel led to support this project we greatly appreciate your contribution. Donation information here...

We greatly appreciate your prayers!
